New Report: The Legal and Ethical Implications of Monosemanticity in LLMs, IPLR-IG-008

🚀 Excited to announce an ambitious wave of reports we plan to release this September 2024!

Starting off with our latest infographic report: "The Legal and Ethical Implications of Monosemanticity in LLMs, IPLR-IG-008" by Indic Pacific Legal Research LLP by Abhivardhan our Founder.

It was a pleasure collaborating on this report with Samyak Deshpande, Sanvi Zadoo, and Alisha Garg, former interns at the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law.

This report draws inspiration from two significant developments in the global AI landscape:

1️⃣ Anthropic’s groundbreaking paper, "Scaling Monosemanticity: Extracting Interpretable Features from Claude 3" (mid-2024), delves into the complexities of large language models (LLMs) and the extraction of monosemantic neurons.

2️⃣ The International Scientific Report on AI Safety (interim report), released by the UK Government and other stakeholders at the AI Seoul Summit, May 2024, building on the discussions from the 2023 Bletchley Summit.

Our report provides a comprehensive analysis of these developments, exploring Anthropic’s work on monosemanticity through technical, economic, and legal-ethical lenses. It also delves into the evolution of neurosymbolic AI, offering pre-regulatory ethical considerations for this emerging technology.

🧠 Notably, Anthropic's paper doesn't overstate their findings on AI risk mapping, allowing us to present our recommendations with a nuanced perspective.
